HISTORY

The Connecticut Police Chiefs Association is an organization of almost 600 members. They share the goal of serving those members and the public by increasing the understanding of the role of the police in the criminal justice system and by fostering improvements in law enforcement education, practice and research.

Founded in 1934, CPCA is the oldest professional law enforcement association in Connecticut and the only one that represents all of Connecticut's Municipalities. Our membership also includes representatives of Campus Police Departments, Municipal Police Officers, Municipal Managers, State Agencies, the Secret Service, the Office of Chief State's Attorney, Metro North Railroad, Private and Corporate Security, U.S. Attorney's Office, the State Police, and associates who have an interest and concern for law enforcement.

The background and experience represented by this diverse group provides a statewide forum for the lively exchange of ideas and opinions within the law enforcement community, as well as a vehicle by which the general public can express its concerns.
