Connecticut Police Chiefs Association - “Breaking Barriers” Initiative
to Enhance Communication Between Law Enforcement and the Driving Public
The Connecticut Police Chiefs Association (CPCA) has finalized its Breaking Barriers initiative and is now distributing it to law enforcement agencies statewide. Developed in partnership with the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT), National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (CTDMV). The program features educational videos designed to strengthen communication and understanding between police officers and motorists, particularly new drivers.
With this rollout, departments across Connecticut will integrate the materials into community outreach and officer training to promote transparency, improve traffic stop interactions, and enhance overall public safety.
