The Connecticut Police Chiefs Association (CPCA) Public Safety Expo and Quarterly Meeting, held April 16 at the Aqua Turf Club, drew more than 300 attendees and featured over 100 exhibitors. The Expo serves as a central hub for innovation, collaboration, and resource-sharing across Connecticut’s public safety community.

The expansive exhibit hall brought together a diverse range of vendors showcasing cutting-edge technology, equipment, and services tailored to the evolving needs of law enforcement agencies. From communications systems and training platforms to officer safety solutions and operational tools, attendees engaged directly with vendors through demonstrations and hands-on discussions. The Expo created a valuable environment for chiefs and command staff to evaluate products, explore new solutions, and build strategic partnerships that support their departments’ missions. The energy of the exhibit hall included the passport prize initiative and vendor giveaways. These interactive elements added strong engagement and encouraged attendees to visit a wide range of booths.

The event also included an officer-only training session led by Justin J. Stanko, Esq., Law Enforcement Program Specialist with CIRMA Risk Management and retired Lieutenant/Operations Commander. His presentation, “Scenario-Based Training: Bridging the Gap Between Police Accountability and the Real-World Safety of Your Officers,” delivered a practical framework for integrating realistic training into departmental practices. Stanko emphasized strategies for balancing accountability with officer safety, highlighting risk mitigation, effective training design, and leadership’s role in fostering a culture of preparedness and professionalism. The training was sponsored by FaceTec, Inc.

During the luncheon program, updates on current and upcoming legislation were provided by Sean Hughes and James Viadero, CPCA Executive Liaison. Chief Patrick Daly reminded attendees of upcoming executive training opportunities, while Chief Stephens of the Connecticut Law Enforcement Memorial highlighted individuals who will be honored in the coming year. Members of COPSA were also acknowledged prior to the conclusion of the meeting.

CPCA also recognized the contributions of its sponsors, whose support enhanced the overall Expo experience. Sponsors included Mid-Morning Break sponsors Speed Enforcer and TAPCO; Lunch sponsors Flock Safety, McGovern MHQ, Nexgen, and Stanton K9 Foundation; Coffee Break sponsors Goosetown Communications and Peregrine; and Bag sponsor Marcus Communications.

Overall, the April event reinforced the critical role of the Public Safety Expo as a platform for innovation and partnership, underscoring CPCA’s commitment to providing law enforcement leaders with the tools, connections, and resources needed to navigate today’s complex public safety landscape.
